Frequently Asked Question

What is the difference between units of CoaXPress Range Extender over Fiber and how to distinguish between them?
Last Updated 3 years ago

The CoaXPress Range Extender over Fiber system comprises two converters, one on the camera side (Device unit) and one on the Frame Grabber side (Host unit).
The camera side converter can provide power over the CoaXPress link, while the host side converter can sink power from the Frame Grabber.

While the two units look similar, they are not constructed the same and serve different roles. Wrong connectivity configuration might cause the system to have partial functionality or even not to work at all.

A label (as shown in image 1), located at the back of each CoaXPress Range Extender unit, will help identify the unit. An additional option is to access the unit using a USB cable and use the "status" command to identify the unit's type specified in the "Model" field (as shown in image 2).

For more information on system installation and available configurations, please review section 5.1, "Installation procedure," of the following document: CoaXPress Range Extender over Fiber user manual.
