Frequently Asked Question
This topic describes how to reinstall the Driver for KAYA's products manually. To do so, You must take the following operations.
Note: Windows should be configured to allow unsigned drivers first if the new driver is unsigned.
Using Vision Point 2020.1 and above, you may refer to the "Step 1 and step 2" alternative and easier uninstalling option listed below.
Step 1: Uninstalling KAYA driver:
- Open Device Manager
- Open "KAYA Instruments devices" and/or "KAYA Instruments" menus
- Right-click on the device and choose Uninstall device
Note: A couple of drivers related to KAYA may appear - In the opened dialog window, check "Delete the driver software for this device" and click Uninstall
- Perform steps 3-4 for all KAYA's listed devices

- Check that the kayaXXX.sys driver was removed from C:\Windows\System32\drivers directory
Step 2: Removing old drivers from the repository:
To ensure the driver won't be restored automatically from Driver Store, please follow these steps:
- Please download the Rapr.exe utility from here
- Execute the Rapr.exe utility as administrator (doesn't require installation)
- Locate "KAYA Instruments" and/or "KAYA Instruments devices" in the drivers list
Note: If no KAYA drivers were found, this indicates that the previous step (uninstalling the driver via Device Manager) deleted the driver, and you can skip this step. - Check ALL drivers check-boxes appeared under those categories
Note: A couple of drivers related to KAYA might appear - Under Operations, check "Force Deletion" and press Delete Package

- Check that the kayadrvr drivers were removed from
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository directory
Step 1 and step 2 alternative option:
1. Open "Control panel".
2. Under "Programs" choose "Uninstall a program"
3. Find "Windows Driver Package - KAYA Instruments Ltd. PCI Driver...." in displayed list.
4. Right-click on the package and choose "Uninstall/Change"
5. choose 'Yes' in the "Uninstall Driver Package" window
6. Restart the PC
Step 3: Installing the new driver:
- Make sure the driver directory ({KAYA Instruments root folder}\Common\bin\driver\x64\MS_Signed) includes the following files:
- kayakern.cat
- KAYAKERN.inf
- KAYAKERN.sys
- There are three ways to install the new driver
- Via dpinst.exe utility.
Run dpinst utility choose next and after driver installation was completed click finish - Via bat file.
Run KAYAKERN_install.bat from the command line or manually - Via Device Manager.
Choose the Action menu and click on Scan for hardware changes. Locate the device - please note the device may appear in Device Manager as an unrecognized PCI device with a yellow triangle icon next to the title. Right-click on the device and choose "Update driver". Choose the path to the new driver and click OK.
Please note that after driver installation you need to restart the PC
